Preview: Deccan Chargers Vs Rajasthan Royals

  Depleted Rajasthan Royals will take on Deccan Chargers at Uppal stadium in Hyderabad. Hyderabad has poor record at home ground while Rajasthan is struggling due to financial problems. Both teams are looking strong in bowling department. Both IPL squads have very good leaders - Shane Warne and Kumara Sangakakra. Unavailability of Shane Watson (best all-rounder in IPL) is a big blow to Rajasthan Royals.    Match time: 4 PM on April 9  Stadium: Uppal stadium in Secunderabad.  Hyderabad Deccan Chargers:    Deccan Chargers management always struggled to pick up right players during the auction. They spend too much on 2-3 foreign stars and forget about Indian players. They are once again fielding an average team in IPL. But, it has 2-3 stars who can singlehandedly win the games. They are looking strong in bowling department just like Rajasthan Royals but their batting fotunes depend on Kumara Sangakkara and JP Duminy. We have to see how Ishant Sharma performs - Indian cricket badly needs him.  Probable squad: Kumara Sangakkara (Captain), Shikhar Dhawan, Raviteja, JP Duminy, Bharat Chipli, Daniel Christian, Dale Steyn, Ishant Sharma, Pragyan Ojha, Amit Mishra.   Rajasthan Royals:    Rajasthan is in trouble. Shane Watson is not available while it lost Paul Collingwood to injury. Deepak Chahr had wonderful Ranji season and can make it to Indian team if he performs well in IPL 4. IPL Teams and Bollywood ownership – Jinxed

 Things just don’t seem to be working out for IPL teams owned by Bollywood actors, a fact very noticeable in the 3rd edition of the Indian Premier League. Is it just a coincidence that all the 3 teams languishing at the bottom of the points table have Bollywood stars as owners/stake holders or are such teams jinxed? Sure, the stars have added glitz and glamour to the tournament. But they have not succeeded in ensuring positive results. One cannot dismiss this as a one-off case which has occurred only in IPL-3. Shahrukh Khan's Kolkata Knight Riders has never been a contender for the top four slots in any IPL season. The deepening worry lines on his face when the team loses makes one feel sorry for him. In the case of team Kings XI Punjab, actor Preity Zinta may have become a co-owner by virtue of being the beau of industrialist, Ness Wadia. In the first season of IPL, they ranked 2nd in the points table. In IPL-2, when there were rumours of a split between Preity and Ness, they slipped to 5th position. And in the current season, the official split seems to have affected the team's morale and the results are there for all to see. The team is at the bottom of the score ladder notwithstanding Preity Zinta’s cheering and her dip in the holy Ganga at Hardwar. The Rajasthan Royals, remember, won the cup in the 1st edition ; and then Shilpa Shetty (who suddenly was in the limelight due to the 'Big Brother' show ) purchased a stake along with business partner, Raj Kundra. Things have been going steadily downhill for the team since then. Ravindra Jadeja episode

 Ravindra Jadeja: What is the cause for a very promising player in the T20 format to sit at home twiddling his thumbs, when the world’s most exciting T20 tournament is going on? Who is responsible for Ravindra Jadeja’s current situation? Was it plain greed on the part of Jadeja, temptation to earn a few more bucks or is it much more than that? Could it not be the fault of the Mumbai Indians management who may have instigated Jadeja to cross the thin line of professional ethics? Was the Rajasthan Royals management trying to exploit a performing cricketer by underpaying him, making him feel insecure by not confirming his place in the team and then crying foul when he lost patience and decided to try new avenues ? Has the BCCI penalized him more harshly than the situation warrants? A ban for a couple of matches, a hefty fine would have taught him a lesson. A ban for the entire tournament for a budding T20 player may jeopardize his future in this format of the game. Let’s assume that the BCCI is honest when it says that it did not want to set a bad precedent. But would a similar precedent have been set if the player involved had been senior or influential?  Then, why was the Mumbai Indians franchise let off with a warning? They too deserved and could afford a harsher punishment. They may have convinced the gullible Jadeja that he was committing no wrong. Here, the BCCI did not seem to have any worries of precedent setting. This episode is a lesson for players especially the younger lot that when it comes to rules and regulations, they should strictly go by the book. Preview: Chennai Vs Rajasthan Royal

 The Chennai Super Kings were impressive in their recent win over the Royal Challengers and they have an opportunity to build on that victory when they host the Rajasthan Royals in Chennai on Saturday. It promises to be an exciting mid-table clash, with the winner breaking into the top half of the table. Venue and conditions:Known for its distinct pitch characteristics, with that extra zip and bounce off the wicket, the MA Chidambaram Stadium, formerly known as Chepauk, has been hosting internationals since 1934. The Kings Host:Had Chennai lost to Bangalore in their previous game they would have had a real mountain to climb to reach the semi finals. As it turns out, they still have plenty to do after losing five of their first eight matches but there is renewed optimism amongst their followers. The five wicket win ended a run of four successive defeats, one of which came against the Royals.Chennai got a much needed win against their neighbors Royal Challengers Bangalore on Wednesday night but this time around it wasn't the "mongoose" bat wielding Matthew Hayden, but young Indian opening batsman Murali Vijay, who stole the show with a blistering knock of 78 from 39 balls, striking at an awesome rate of 200. With the impressive Suresh Raina and hard hitting Dhoni in their batting ranks, a decent start at the top of the order is what is required for CSK to pile on the runs on the board. IPL Game Preview: Delhi Vs Rajasthan

 Delhi Daredevils will take on the Rajasthan Royals on the 31st of March at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, Delhi. The Delhi Daredevils seem to have got their IPL 3 campaign back on track and they get the vote to end the recent good run of the Rajasthan Royals.This is one of the most reliable batting surfaces around. Mumbai posted the massive 218 here earlier this season and the other two first-innings scores have both produced run rates of more than 8.8 runs per over. The Hosts: Delhi Daredevils took to flying start at the beginning of the IPL tournament but slowly they lost the fire to win and as a result they have a dropped down the IPL standings. But they made a positive attempt against Kolkata Knight Riders in the previous match showing a lot of promise. They have yet another golden chance against the Rajasthan Royals to turn around the tables and they are not looking bad at all.Dave Warner was the star turn against the Knight Riders with an unbeaten century. Gambhir has returned to action after injury and you get the impression that he, Sehwag and AB de Villiers have still to really click into action with the bat.David Warner and Paul Collingwood have replaced AB De Villiers and Tillakaratne Dilshan and the pair inspired Delhi to a 40-run victory over Kolkata last time.  Rajasthan Royals: Team Analysis Rajasthan Royals is a franchise cricket team based in Jaipur that plays in the IPL. The team is led and coached by Shane Warne. The team's mascot is a lion named Moochu Singh. The team anthem, 'Halla Bol' is sung by Ila Arun. The promotional video that aired on national networks before and during the first edition of the IPL was directed by Indrajit Nattoji of Blink Pictures. Leicestershire spinner Jeremy Snape signed on with the Rajasthan Royals as their high-performance coach and team psychologist. They became the champions of the inaugural IPL tournament in 2008. The Rajasthan Royals franchise is owned by Emerging Media group and is Chaired by Manoj Badale. Other investors include Lachlan Murdoch, Aditya S Chellaram and Suresh Chellaram. The Group acquired the franchise for $67 million. Incidentally, this was the least expensive franchise in the Indian Premier League and probably the least fancied team in the league at the beginning of the tournament. Bollywood actress and Celebrity Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra paid approximately US $15.4 million for a 11.7% stake before the start of IPL 2 in early 2009, therefore valuing the team at $130 million. New players in IPL 2010 for Chennai and Rajasthan

 Couple of new faces will join IPL for Chennai super kings and Rajasthan Royals to boost team bowling and batting department. Chennai Super Kings: Australian left-arm pacer Doug Bollinger will replace injured Jacob Oram, who was ruled out of the entire Indian Premier League 2010, in the Chennai Super Kings team. Bollinger will join the team on April 5. Oram suffered a patella tendon tear shortly after New Zealand's home series against Australia began and was advised rest for up to a month. Bollinger's inclusion will bolster Chennai's bowling attack, which sorely lacked a genuine strike bowler during a disappointing start to their campaign. Bollinger, who came in to the Australian Test side in January 2009, has emerged as one of the team's best strike bowlers in the last year. He had an outstanding 2009-10 home season, taking 25 wickets in five Tests, against West Indies and Pakistan. He also took 15 wickets in eight ODIs against the two teams and began the Test series in New Zealand with a five-for in Wellington. Rajasthan Royals: Rajasthan Royals have drafted Victoria batsman Aaron Finch into their squad for the 2010 IPL season. Rajasthan Royals lost Graeme Smith and Dimitri Mascarenhas to injuries but Finch was included because they had an extra overseas slot free, and not as a replacement player. Finch, who represented Victoria during the Champions League Twenty20 in October, last year, has already joined the team in India.  T20 Match Preview: Rajasthan Royals Vs Chennai Super King Venue and Conditions: First game of the double header on Sunday is a repeat of the 2008 season's final showdown - the Rajasthan Royals versus the Chennai Super Kings. The game will be played at Rajasthan's second home at Motera in Ahmedabad, and both teams come in with contrasting fortunes in the week past.The Sadam Partel stadium surface in Ahmedabad does not look to be full of runs. Sides have struggled to post big scores first up this year with totals of 148, 168 and 141. Team Performance: Rajasthan have chalked up a hat-trick of victories while Chennai have suffered a hat-trick of defeats. After three demoralizing losses on the trot, the Royals have scripted a fairytale turnaround to win three straight games. After languishing at the bottom of the pile initially, they are now up to third in the points table in the blink of an eye, and this just goes on to prove just how quickly things can turn around in this format. Despite the loss of key men like Graeme Smith and Dimitri Mascarenhas, Rajasthan have been galvanised. IPL Preview: Rajasthan Vs Hyderabad

 Venue and Conditions: Friday’s IPL action comes from Ahmedabad where the Rajasthan Royals take on the Deccan Chargers. This is only the third IPL fixture to be played at this stadium and the wicket has proved to be a difficult one on which to get the ball away. It's a slow track, arguably the slowest in the IPL and the Deccan batsmen may find the adjustment difficult. Team News: The Royals lost their first three matches and were dealt a double injury blow when the South African skipper Graeme Smith and Hampshire's Dimitri Mascarenhas were ruled out for the duration after their second contest. Later, they have just completed back to back wins over the Knight Riders and the Kings XI to kick start their tournament. The squad has been trimmed to 19 players which has seen Damien Martyn head home but there is talk of Shane Watson arriving in the not to distant future which would provide another boost to their chances. The Deccan Chargers have reeled off successive wins against Super Kings, Kings XI and the Daredevils after an opening day loss to the Knight Riders. The evergreen Adam Gilchrist is doing a sterling job and he is being ably assisted by the experienced duo of Andrew Symonds and Herschelle Gibbs both of whom seem to be playing their way back into form. Gilchrist, Symonds, Gibbs and Rohit Sharma have all been amongst the runs at times so far but only Gilchrist with a top score of 54 and Symonds with 53 have made a half century. With the ball, Chaminda Vaas has eight wickets and an economy rate a shade over 6 per over whilst Symonds and Sharma have kept things pretty tight with economy rates of just over 6.5.
