IPL T20 cricket team of the first round

 In the first round of IPL, Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Daredevils played two matches each while other teams played one match each. Sourav Ganguly (Pune Warriors) emerged as the best captain in the first round. No team emerged as the hot favourite in this round. Pune surprised everyone by defeating Mumbai in Mumbai. KKR once again deceived fans with poor performance while Rajasthan impressed everyone with limited resources.  Best innings of the first round: Ajinkya Rahane (Rajasthan Royals). He performed well even in England but Indian team management failed to give him enough chances in International cricket. Most valuable player of 1st round: Kevon Cooper (Rajasthan Royals).  IPL T20 cricket team of 1st round: Captain of the team: AB De Villiers (Royal Challengers). My team has just 4 Indians. If rules do not allow to play with 7 foreign stars, I replace Muralidharan  and Smith with Ashwin/Ojha & Irfan Pathan respectively.  Batting: 1. Ajinkya Rahane (Rajasthan Royals): He might have missed the century but produced a classic innings. His well constructed innings (98 runs in 66 balls) is one of the best in IPL history. 2. Richard Levi (Mumbai Indians): Sensational innings on IPL debut against CSK but Murali Karthik brutally exposed him on a turning Wankhede pitch. He is too dangerous on his day. 3. 7 Suggestions for IPL management

  Indian Premier League (IPL) changed the lives of even unknown cricketers while it turned some cricketers like Paul Valthaty into overnight stars. It has the potential to become the biggest sporting brand in the world in 5-6 years if ICC cooperates with BCCI. These are my suggestions to increase IPL brand value, TV viewership  7 Suggestions for IPL management:  1. Include every player who played at least 1 IPL match in the auction. When ordinary players like Joginder Sharma are in the auction, why not Ambati Rayudu & Paul Valthaty?  2. Increase the number of match avenues to 20. Allot 2-3 games to stadiums in cities likeVisakhapatnam, Cuttack, Guwahati, Kanpur, Ahmedabad, Gwalior, Baroda etc. Allot 2 stadiums to each franchisee.  Ex. Chennai Super Kings management should develop another stadium in Tamil Nadu (Madurai / Coimbatore). Deccan Chargers owners should develop another stadium in Vijayawada/Vizag.  Increase in the number of venues will help ticket sales and enhance IPL brand value. Chennai Super Kings should represent Tamil Nadu (not chennai) to get high brand value and fan base.    3. Format: Current format is the best one. No changes are required.  4. Schedule: Conduct every IPL tournament from April 1 – May 31. It is easy for other countries to plan their schedule.  5. Conduct two matches only on weekends and holidays. One match is enough on weekdays.  Conducting two matches on weekends and holidays will help to increase TV ratings and also reduce viewer & player fatigue.   Kings XI Punjab star Paul Valthaty is the undisputed star of 2011 Indian Premier League T20 cricket tournament. He is almost single-handedly carrying the fortunes of this IPL team on his shoulders. He played miserably for Rajasthan Royals in the earlier editions of IPL. But, Kings XI management showed faith on this cricketer's abilities.  He is now proudly wearing orange cap – beating competition from world class players like Sachin Tendulkar and AB de Villiers. Indian selectors will pick him for West Indies tour as senior players are taking rest. This is another excellent chance for Valthaty to prove his class on the international stage.  Indian junior selectors spotted his talent in the early days of his career and picked him for 2002 U-19 World cup along with Irfan Pathan, Siddharth Trivedi, Mohnish Mishra, Mininder Bisla and Parthiv Patel. But, an injury to left eye spoiled his budding career.   Kolkata Knightriders will take on Deccan Chargers at Eden Gardens on Monday. Both teams lost their first games against Chennai and Rajasthan respectively. Kolkata lost to Chennai due to poor captaincy by Gautam Gambhir while DD lost against weak Rajasthan due to lack of balance in the team.  Match venue: Eden Gardens, Kolkata.  Match timing: at 8 PM on April 11.   Ratings for Teams & Captains:     KKR: Team - 8/10 & Captain - 7/10.  DC: Team - 7/10 & Captain - 8/10   Major battles:   1. KKR Batting Vs DC bowling.  2. Dale Steyn Vs Jacques Kallis.  Best strategy: Batting second on Eden Gardens is not easy especially for KKR as DC has 2 good spinners - Pragyan Ojha & Amit Mishra & Steyn.   Analysis of KKR & DD:    Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR):   KKR lost first game to Chennai due to lack of passion and uninspirational captaincy by Gautam Gambhir. Preview: Deccan Chargers Vs Rajasthan Royals

  Depleted Rajasthan Royals will take on Deccan Chargers at Uppal stadium in Hyderabad. Hyderabad has poor record at home ground while Rajasthan is struggling due to financial problems. Both teams are looking strong in bowling department. Both IPL squads have very good leaders - Shane Warne and Kumara Sangakakra. Unavailability of Shane Watson (best all-rounder in IPL) is a big blow to Rajasthan Royals.    Match time: 4 PM on April 9  Stadium: Uppal stadium in Secunderabad.  Hyderabad Deccan Chargers:    Deccan Chargers management always struggled to pick up right players during the auction. They spend too much on 2-3 foreign stars and forget about Indian players. They are once again fielding an average team in IPL. But, it has 2-3 stars who can singlehandedly win the games. They are looking strong in bowling department just like Rajasthan Royals but their batting fotunes depend on Kumara Sangakkara and JP Duminy.
